History Society - Best Trip 2008
Website (if available)
Description
We believe that people should join The History Society because we give them the opportunity to meet people who share similar interests.
The History Society promotes history as more than an academic subject.
The History Society arranges trips to historical venues with the services of an expert guide.
The History Society is affiliated to the Regional History Centre at St Matthias, and together we organise a series of evening talks.
The History Society welcomes everyone; you don’t have to be studying history to enjoy our activities!
Where They Train / Meet
The Society meets fortnightly in the Student Union Bar at St Matthias. We occasionally meet in one of the historic pubs in the centre of Bristol.
Trips arranged for 2008/9 are: the award winning ‘Walking Tour of Medieval Bristol, St Fagans: The National History Museum of Wales, the Fleet Air Arm Museum, a visit to the Shakespeare Pub, Redcliff Caves, and a Ghost Walk. We shall be organising two visits to see ‘Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory’ and a visit to Berkeley Castle and Tewkesbury Abbey.
