Malaysian Student Association
Website (if available)
Description
The society was formed to cater for great number of Malaysian students studying in UWE. Being pre-dominantly a Malaysian based society, we aim to provide a great experience to all students in UWE who are interested in learning about our culture, tradition and heritage. Malaysia being a multi-racial country, we celebrate various festivals and thus, we intend to continue this tradition despite being away from home. We are also active in other sporting and social events as we have in the past participated in the Nottingham Malaysian Games, the biggest event held for Malaysian students in the UK. Besides that, we have also organized activities such as the ‘Malaysian Student Association Chinese New Year’ celebration which took place in an exclusive Chinese restaurant here in Bristol. In future, we also plan to organise other major festivals, namely, Hari Raya and Deepavali to be included in our list of events. The society welcomes all who wish to share in the wonderful experiences enjoyed and assures you of a fun-filled year ahead.
Where They Train / Meet
We usually meet on monthly basis for our meeting in order to discuss and plan future events and activities. Much of our social events are held informally amongst the members in the Student Union bar or at Core24. Furthermore, the football team gets together every forth night for a kick about and also to have fun.
We will continue to effectively participate the Malaysian Nottingham Games as well as the Cardiff Malaysian Games.
