UWEHC is a very well known, popular and successful club within the Students’ Union. It is the only mixed sports club at our university; boasting over 200 members, 7 hockey teams and a huge social calendar. We have top level coaches, intramural activities and we play on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is a brand new International Standard waterbased Astroturf pitch next to the New Centre for Sport on the main campus.
UWE Hockey Club offers hockey players of all standards the chance to play and train on a regular basis whether you are of international standard or a complete beginner. We are extremely lucky to have a high class coach who has been involved in hockey at the highest level for a number of years.
While the Social Side plays a huge part of the hockey club, it is what happens on the pitch that is so impressive. Now our men are in BUSA Premier League and our Ladies are top of the Western 1A League, and it is because of this that UWEHC is so well known throughout the university hockey scene.
We will all be at the Freshers’ Fair ready to answer any questions you may have. Look for the hockey goal!
Where they train/meet
All teams train twice a week.
Mens 1st & 2nd, Ladies 1st – Monday & Thursday Evenings
Mens 3rd & 4th, Ladies 2nd & 3rd – Tuesday and Thursday Evenings
Players are also welcome to organise sessions in the aerobics suite with the fitness instructors or extra fitness sessions with the hockey coaches.
We meet socially every Wednesday evening at 7pm in the White Harte in Bristol City Centre.
In addition to this, we attend Bournemouth Hockey Festival and are looking to go abroad on a Hockey Tour at Easter.
