After being voted best sports club for two consecutive years, UWE Netball has gone from strength to strength; combining the tough and testing aspects of playing together with the entertaining and enjoyable features of socialising in a large group.
The 3 representative teams at UWE Netball train hard, play hard and experience success year after year as a result. We hope that new members that are given the opportunity to join the representative sides share our dedication and commitment to the sport. With the 1st team winning best team for the 2007/2008 academic year and gaining promotion into the premiership league this season, there couldn’t be a better place for determined, experienced netballers who are looking for the challenge to play against the best university netball teams in the South of the UK.
In addition to this, UWE Netball boasts the largest intra-mural league in the university with over 20 teams playing each week giving ample opportunity for netballers who are simply looking for fitness and fun by playing once a week.
What you want to get out of UWE Netball really does depend on how much you put in. Every Wednesday night, UWE Netball joins other Sports Clubs in Bristol City Centre for a social evening of fun and laughter which is definitely not one to be missed!!
Where they train/meet
All training and home matches take place in the Sports Hall at the Centre For Sports based at UWE Frenchay Campus.
All representative teams train on Monday nights 19.00 – 21.00 hrs and on Thursday nights 17.30 – 18.30 hrs. BUCS matches for representative teams take place on Wednesday afternoons with the weekly social taking place on Wednesday evenings.
Intramural Netball also takes place in the Sports Hall at the Centre For Sport at Frenchay Campus on Thursday evenings from 19.00 – 21.00 hrs.
In addition to this, each year the Netball Club participates in a netball tour abroad. In the past there have been very successful tours to both Lloret de Mar and Salou in Spain. This year will be no different, just bigger and better!
