The 13th annual Varsity Rugby match between the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol will be held at the Memorial Stadium on Wednesday 30 April 2008. The women’s kick off is at 18:00 and the men’s match is at 20:00.Gates open at 17:00. Proceeds from the Varsity event will go to the Eve Appeal – Gynaecology Cancer research Fund.

Last year the Varsity match attracted over 3000 students who came to experience the local rivalry between the two successful sporting Universities.

Lily Priggs - UWE Sports President: “The women's best result this year was 113 - 0 against Southampton! Their top performances and dedicated training have led to four players being selected for the South West Students team. The men have had a strong season playing in the Premier South League B beating the much fancied Oxford Brookes Men's 1st' team 59 – 8.”

UWE Men's 1st team Coach, George Tavner, said “They have become a team with phenomenal team spirit and this makes it so difficult for teams to beat them.”
